Android Oreo 12% is installed on the phone, the most installed Android OS in Nougat
Android OS installed on top of Android Nougat at 30.8 percent and Marshmallow 23.5 percent. Android Orio is still gaining market share with the official launch of Android P.
Google launched Android Orio in August last year, and since then, more than 12 percent of phones have OS installed, and even Nougat has become the most installed Android OS version, revealing Google’s Android distribution numbers for this month. Google collected this data for the week ending July 23 Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Android 2.2 Froyo are not included with any version with less than 0.1 percent distribution. The company uses Google Play Console, which provides detailed statistics about users’ devices.
“This page provides information about the relative number of devices that share a specific feature, such as Android version or screen size. This information can help you prioritize efforts to support different devices by revealing which devices are active in the Android and Google Play ecosystems, “Google said on its distribution dashboard page. According to Google, Nougat is 30.8 percent (Nougat 7.0 – 21.2 percent; Nougat 7.1 – 9.6 percent), followed by Marshmallow at 23.5 percent and Lollipop at 20.4 percent (Lollipop 5.0 – 4.2 percent; Lollipop 5.0 – 4.2 percent; Lollipop 5.0-4.2 percent; Lollipop. Percent). Android Oreo is fourth with 12.1 percent.
The company has also provided data on the relative number of devices that have a specific screen configuration, defined by a combination of screen size and density. Since Android runs on a number of phones with different screen sizes, Google has divided the range of actual screen size and density into a few buckets.
Android Orio received 12.1 percent as of July, with Nougat installing 11.5 percent 10 months later. It usually takes a year to be the most used release of an Android OS and should be followed by Android Orio’s own sweet time.
