When Microsoft announced the Windows Creators Update last year, it brought a bunch of new features and functionality to the operating system, including a feature called ‘Continue to PC’. This is a feature similar to Apple’s Mac OS ‘Continuity’ feature, however, the Windows variant is somewhat limited. The Windows ‘Continue on PC’ feature just makes the phone and your PC browsing more seamless. So, if you’re a power user of the Internet and want to make better use of your devices, here’s how to set up ‘Continue to PC’ for your Android or iOS devices.

The Initial setup Here’s how to do it on PC and how you do it.

1. Press the start button
2. Press the gear (settings) icon

1. Click on the phone icon
2. Click Add a Phone.
3. Select your country code and enter your phone number.

1. Click Send.

After that, a text message should come on your smartphone. Open the text message, tap the link and install ‘Microsoft Apps’ on your phone. This is the key component (app) that requires the ‘Continue to PC’ feature to work across devices.

Note: On Android, the text message link will ask you to download Microsoft Launcher and on iOS, you will be asked to download Edge Browser.

On AndroidYou need to follow these steps:

1. Turn on the web browser on your phone. Google Chrome is available for Android phones.
2. Open any web page of your choice. Such as ‘digit.in’.
3. Tap the three vertical dots (more buttons) in the upper right.
4. Tap the share button.

1. Select Continue to PC.
2. Select Continue now or Continue later. The reminder will appear in your PC’s Action Center when you press Continue.

1. However, you will receive a prompt to sign in to your Microsoft account.
2. Type your certificate and sign in.

Now, your setup is complete and you need to see the web page you were looking at on your phone, in your PC browser.

For iOS devicesThe step is a little different.

1. Turn on the web browser on your phone. For most iOS users, this is Safari.
2. Go to the web page you want to continue reading (read) on your PC.
3. Tap the share button and select more.
4. In the Activity menu, turn on ‘Continue on PC’ and select Done.
5. Tap Continue on PC.
6. Select Continue now or Continue later. The reminder will appear in your PC’s Action Center when you press Continue.
7. However, you will receive a prompt to sign in to your Microsoft account.

1. Type your certificate and sign in.

That’s it. Now, you can use Windows ‘Continue on PC’ feature whether it is Android or iOS.
