Microsoft Windows 10 April 2018 update brings features like timeline, focus assist, dictation and much more

Microsoft has announced a major new update for its Windows 10 OS. Called the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, it aims to give users more time to “create, play, work or simply do whatever they want”. The new update brings several new features like timeline, focus assist and dictation. This allows users to control their phone using Cortana. The update will be available for free download from April 30.

In a post on the company’s official blog, Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president, Windows and Devices Group, said: “We all get the same 24 hours. And now, more than ever, it seems like it’s never enough. People feel more overwhelmed than ever and we all like more time – not necessarily time to do more, but time to do what we love. At Microsoft, we want to help you do that. “

The timeline feature allows users to go back up to 30 days to find items. The post notes that users will be able to capture what they were doing by signing in to their Microsoft account while using Edge or Office 360 on their iOS or Android device, and then back to their Windows 10 PC.

Focus Assist aims to increase user focus. It can be turned on manually and can block notifications, emails or updates. Once finished, the user will get a summary of what came through. Users can choose any specific person who will be able to take a break through Focus Assistance. In Edge, users can click the audio button to mute and unmute the sound playing a tab. Books, PDFs and Reading View pages will be able to go full-screen. Other features include chaotic free printing options as well as new grammar tools.

The dictation feature allows users to type in any text field by placing the Windows + H keys. The feature also works within the app. The update allows users to control their IoT devices using Cortana. Manufacturers who support the device include Ecoby, Honeywell, Nest Learning Thermostat and many more.

Other features of the update include simplified IT management tools for enterprise users, new ways to create with photos, 3D and Windows mixed reality, as well as new ways to stay safe online and enhance the PC gaming experience.
