The Windows 10 Creator Update, the next major update to Microsoft’s latest version of Windows, will be available on April 11. Microsoft says Windows 10 is currently running on more than 400 million devices, and the Windows 10 Creator update will roll out worldwide from April 11. Microsoft has previewed its Windows. 10 Creator Updates at the Surface Studio launch in October. The new update focuses on providing new 3D experiences, VR support, Edge browser improvements, game streaming, and some of these features have already reached Windows Insiders.

The easiest and most effective way to get updates is through the Windows Insider program, and Microsoft says more than 10 million people are helping to test Windows before its public rollout. If you use Windows 10, here are some features to look forward to in the coming months.

3D for everyone: This is the single major update to the entire Windows ecosystem this year. Microsoft says the Windows 10 Creators update will now help it transform from 2D to 3D with a focus on developing new apps for VR, augmented reality and HoloLens. At the company’s October event, Microsoft unveiled new features that allow users to perform 3D scans using their phones, then upload them to Paint and then test the same in augmented reality using HoloLens.

To make this possible, Microsoft is bringing 3D support to Paint and PowerPoint – allowing users to create 3D shapes in Paint and integrate 3D objects into PowerPoint. Microsoft says users can share their 3D creation remix in 3D or print using a 3D printer.

Microsoft Edge: With the Windows 10 Creator update, Microsoft has been focusing on improving Edge’s tab management feature which has been a pain. The first major feature is the new option of previewing all open tabs in the form of visual thumbnails and separating a group of tabs for a messy web experience. Microsoft Edge comes with advanced security features such as anti-phishing and protection against malicious software. Microsoft is also improving the reading mode with support for EPUB format and font and text size options.

With the Creator update, Microsoft will support new extensions like Edge Abbott, Intel Truekey, Read and Write, Ghostry and RoboForm. It will support 4K UHD video playback on Windows Inc., Microsoft Wallet for web payments, and Netflix.

Xbox and Gaming: With the Windows 10 Creators update, the game streaming service ‘Beam’ has been created directly on Windows, allowing users to broadcast their gameplay or allow other users to watch the game’s livestream live. Creator Update users will be able to broadcast their gameplay directly from the game bar by pressing ‘Windows Key + G’ or taking screenshots and recording gaming moments. Windows 10 will also support new game modes that optimize the PC for a consistent gaming experience. “At a basic level, Game Mode is a platform feature that devotes more graphics and processor resources to your PC games,” says Microsoft. Windows 10 Creators Update also brings support for 4K gaming like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Halo Wars 2.

Night light: As the name implies, this Nifty feature will allow Windows 10 users to adjust the blue light emitted by their display. The feature can be enabled by clicking Settings> System> Display. Windows 10 users can set additional color temperature ranges and set the time for nightlight, such as night shift mode, on Apple’s iOS devices.

People Bar and other new features: Microsoft says Windows 10 is about communications and the Creator update will allow users to pin selected users or family members directly to the taskbar. With people pinned to the taskbar, Windows 10 users can drag and drop files to share with them. Microsoft will collect contact information using programs like Skype and email. Microsoft is also improving the digital workspace known as Windows Inc. with the ability to draw or write on photos and videos and digital markup on documents. Microsoft is updating Cortana with the suggested reminders and the ability for users to choose where they left off.

While Microsoft’s focus is clearly on creativity and people management, the new update also addresses privacy issues that allow users to view and control the data Microsoft collects, including location, search, and browsing. The update also improves key apps like Windows Photos, Groove Music and Bing Maps.
