New Windows 10 Tablet Experience for 2-in-1 Devices Unveiled by Microsoft

Microsoft has unveiled a new Windows 10 tablet experience. It targets 2-in-1 devices, such as the Microsoft Surface Pro.

Microsoft today released the Windows 10 20H1 preview build. This is only available for “Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring”. Build number 18970 adds several notable features It aims to enhance the touch experience on 2-in-1 convertible PCs The new update allows users to enter tablet mode and stay in the familiar desktop experience without interruption.

Some key improvements include:

  • Increased spacing between taskbar icons.
  • The search box in the taskbar is broken into an icon.
  • File Explorer switches to optimized layout.
  • The keyboard automatically calls when you tap on the text field.

Microsoft has made a few minor changes to the Tablets section in Settings. However, the experience is currently available for a portion of the interiors because technology evaluates giant quality. The company has marked the design as a beta, suggesting that it will change and be shaped by feedback. These new changes will be triggered automatically when a user removes the keyboard from a device such as the Surface Pro.

In addition to switching to tablet mode, Microsoft is now testing a cloud download option to reset and restore Windows 10 PCs. This will allow Windows users to quickly reinstall the OS without having to install it on a local disk or recovery USB drive. Similar features have existed in macOS over the years.

Other improvements include fixing a DWM memory leak, an issue that caused WIN + (period) to shut down, two issues that could cause settings to crash when interacting with search page options, and more. In addition, there are subtle changes to the volume flyout, network flyout, clock and calendar flyout, and notification toast.

Microsoft has also improved the reliability of the narrator. It will now read web pages from the top of the page, not the original landmark, with a fallback to find a paragraph.
