Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and A7 (2016) have started getting Android 7.0 Nougat update in India

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) are reported to be getting Android 7.0 Nougat update in India. The handsets are the first non-flagship Galaxy smartphones to receive the Nougat update. According to a report from Sammobile, the update for Galaxy A7 (2016) weighs 970MB and is slowly being rolled out to Indian users.

The update was first rolled out in Russia and recently saw the Nougat version for the Galaxy A5 (2017). Users must have at least 1GB of free space on their device to download and install updates. When the update rolls out in the form of an OTA update, there is also an option to manually check for updates by clicking on Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy A (2016) series brings new features like split-screen multitasking, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and more customizable settings menu. The update streamlines the user interface with support for ‘double tap’ on the recent button to switch between the two latest apps.

Android Nougat has come up with ‘Dose on the Go’ which enhances the battery saving features of the device. Google recently confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat has reached 7.1 percent market share. With older devices getting the update, it is possible that it will reach double digits within the next month.
