Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will get Android 7.0 Nougat update from January 17 The Korean smartphone maker has recently completed its Nougat beta for the S7 series The Nougat Beta was only available for a small batch of the Galaxy S7 range and now every user will get a taste of the latest Android flavors.
A leaked screenshot, seen by Android Soul, reveals that the Galaxy S7 series will receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update from January 17th. Although the screenshot only mentions the Galaxy S7 Edge, it’s not clear if Samsung plans to update to the S7 Edge at first. Samsung had earlier promised that the Galaxy S7 would get the Nougat update in January and this leak is consistent with that announcement.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be layered with the company’s own TouchWiz UI. Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Major new improvements include split-screen multitasking, quick switching between open apps and direct notifications from notifications.
Google says that Android 7.0 Nougat also improves battery life with the new ‘Dose on the Go’ feature. Google Pixel, Pixel XL, LG V20, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are some of the phones that are currently updated to the latest version of Android.
