Synology Inc. G Suite / Office 365 today announced the official release of Active Backup, an on-premises cloud backup solution for businesses to ensure the security of data stored on G Suite / Office 365 drives.
“As a growing number of businesses rely on cloud collaboration to enhance their work efficiency, cloud-based data security is becoming increasingly valuable,” said Xiao Yu Liu, senior manager of Cloud and Backup at Sinology Inc. G Suite and Office 365 are our first two backup solutions that secure off-premise business data, allowing cloud data to be backed up to local Synology NAS devices to prevent malicious attacks and accidents as well as complete control over employee data. “
Key features of Active Backup for G Suite / Office 365 include:
On-premise and cost-effective backup: With a one-time investment, businesses can back up data stored on G Suite and Office 365 drives to local Synology NAS devices so that employees can easily own and protect their data.
Automatic detection and backup of new account: Newly-created accounts will be automatically detected and added for backup, which reduces operating costs as well as the possibility of leaving an employee without a backup.
Flexible RPO with continuous and scheduled backup: Multiple backup policies provide the flexibility needed to meet a wide range of RPOs. For example, continuous backups allow users to back up continuously to reduce the risk of data loss, while enabling scheduled backup businesses to set up schedules based on their needs.
Self-Service Recovery Portal: Convenient self-service recovery portals allow employees to recover files themselves from an intuitive interface without the help of IT admins, which not only enhances efficiency but also reduces the burden on IT team members.
Backup and storage efficiency: Single instance ensures data transmission and storage efficiency by transferring and storing files with unique content only. Block-level deduplication helps businesses keep the most data while using only the least amount of storage space to save blocks of a single file, which varies from one version to another.
Full file protection: In addition to user data, metadata and personal sharing permission settings can also be backed up and restored directly to G Suite and Office 365 accounts, providing extensive protection of the business cloud collaboration environment.

Team Drive Backup: Team Drive, which Google released this year, also supports backups. What’s more, once the Team Drive Discovery feature is enabled, newly created team drives will be automatically added for backup.
