Xiaomi brings our MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM to six phones

MIUI 10 comes with updates on design, performance and AI-powered portrait capturing. Stable ROM will be rolled out in September.
Xiaomi recently announced a global beta version of MIUI 10 that will bring a lot of updates – from the UI interface to the new camera capabilities. Although Xiaomi has listed a total of 15 phones that will receive the update, it has now launched beta versions on six popular devices Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi MIX 2, Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5 Pro / Redmi Note 5 and Mi MIX 2S. For other devices, Xiaomi is expected to release beta later.
The company said that the stable version of MIUI 10 – which will have design, performance and camera updates – will start rolling out in September: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi Max, Mi Max 2 , Redmi Note 4 (India), Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 5, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4X smartphones. Since some older Xiaomi models have lower processing speeds, the MIUI 10 update will not roll out to them. The company has not yet listed which phones will skip the update.
According to the company’s product manager Sudip Sahu, Xiaomi’s focus is on motion, design, sound and AI portrait image capturing, including MIUI 10. In terms of performance, MIUI 10 introduces two new features called “Lock Free Critical Path” and “Co-dependent Priority”, which call for up to 10 percent improvement in their device speeds.
When it comes to design, the company includes gestures, which play a key role in navigating a smartphone. The “Recent” screen has been refreshed and users will now be able to scroll down to get a stacked card view of their recently used apps. Users will be able to swipe to remove apps or long press on an app for shortcut access like split view.
The overall ROM has been redesigned for rounded icons. The Xiaomi MIUI 10 has also reworked some of the audio aspects and the notification tone changes with each message you receive. The timer app now plays the sounds of the surrounding nature.
Xiaomi also tweaked some features for Indian users. One of its highlights is the web browser, which now has a dedicated page for local services, including Progressive Web Apps (PWA) support. The camera app will also recognize the Paytm QR code.
Users who have registered for Global Beta ROM have checked for updates by checking Settings> About Phone> System Updates> Updates. You can also download updates through the Updater app. Xiaomi announced MIUI Global ROM at an event where it launched the Redmi Y2. (Revaluation)
